What are Phosphates and why do I need to remove them?

Phosphates in pool water are a type of phosphorus that can enter from a variety of sources, such as fertiliser runoff, decaying plant matter like leaves, soil, and even from swimmers themselves. These phosphates act as food for algae, which can cause growth when their levels get too high. While small amounts are common and usually not a concern, an overabundance of phosphates can lead to algae problems. In such cases, using a phosphate remover helps maintain the water's quality and keep it clean.

To avoid your pool going green have your pool water tested regularly to ensure you keep phosphates and other nasties away.

If you get a lot of leaves or dust in your pool, discuss a prevention plan with your local WA Pool Warehouse store
